Core terms
Community
A bounded group that governs itself with shared proposals and votes.
A community is the container for governance: it has members, a name and description, a visibility tier (Public — in the directory; Unlisted — reachable only by link; or Private — members only), and its own set of proposal types. Individual proposals set their own audience — "Anyone with the link" or "Members only" — independently of the community tier. Decisions are made by its members through proposals.
