Simple majority

Plurality: reports each option’s share and the leading option — no pass/fail.

Also called plurality or first-past-the-post: the option with the most votes leads. It is the rule behind the Poll method, so it does not declare a winner as "passed" — the tally is recorded, each option carries its share, and the leading option (or a tie for the lead) is marked. A single named option clearing an absolute or two-thirds bar among 3+ choices was deliberately dropped: it rarely resolves without ranked voting. For a real pass/fail use Approval; that hard-threshold case is the honest home of a future Ranked/Runoff method.
